These can be identified by
1. Carapace shape & texture which is smooth, slightly domed carapace with a broad and rounded front and minimal spination compared to other swimming crabs.
2. The eyes are small and stalked with & frontal margin edge often gently scalloped or lobed.
3. The claws are flattened, often banded or patterned and not overly bulky (unlike many swimming crabs).
4. Colouration & pattern is typically pale cream / translucent base with symmetrical darker markings on carapace and banding on claws and legs.
5. Their habitat includes soft corals, anemones and sometimes echinoderms or tunicates.
