Okenia atkinsonorum
Okenia atkinsonorum
Images taken at Bare Island, NSW, Australia
O. atkinsonorum is bright pink in colour except for the gills and rhinophores, which are a much darker pink/red. When photographing them too much strobe power really over exposes the lighter pink colour making it almost white. The body has a relatively low profile and lacks a mantle ridge, but its position is indicated by up to seven large mantle papillae on each side. The eye can be seen at the base of the rhinophore.
They feed on the bryozoan Pleurotoichus clathratus.
