Cratena lineata has an elongate body, translucent white with opaque white longitudinal lines on the notum; two red patches on the side of the head. The cerata are cylindrical and swollen, red to orange brown digestive glands showing through translucent white. There are opaque white longitudinal lines on the cerata with white apeces. The rhinophores are simple and smooth, translucent orange base with white tips. The oral tentacles are long, translucent base with white translucent covering the majority of the length.
They feed on hydroids, anemones, soft corals and the eggs of fish and other nudibranchs.
